At the heart of 1838 is a celebration of design and craftsmanship.

A luxury brand manufacturing all wallpapers at our factory in Lancashire, England.

The name evokes the deep roots of wallpaper innovation for 1838 was the year the first wallpaper machine was pioneered, just a few miles away from the factory.

A family owned business, 1838 Wallcoverings is led by brother and sister team James and Abigail Watson, whose family has over 4 generations of wallpaper printing experience.

Aurora provides a sense of respite and calm with a palette and motifs inspired by flora and fauna. Simple grasscloth textures mingle with delicate plumage patterns, alongside immersive woodland scenes and highly-colored botanical designs. A rich but soothing palette is enlivened with soft metallic highlights and textural flocking and beading techniques.

The Avington Collection draws style inspiration from stately English homes and encompasses a range of dramatic, impactful designs such as sophisticated flocks, a stunning chinoiserie, and a fresh take on a classic silk moiré motif. The collection is gorgeously rendered in a range of subtle and earthy shades, matching monochromes and rich metallics.

Inspired by the Mediterranean, the vivid colors throughout the Capri collection evoke warm sunshine and a relaxed coastal lifestyle. Serene beautiful seascapes, delicate fern fronds and coral designs pair perfectly with mosaic detailing and are brought to life with subtle textures and shimmering metallics.

Elodie is the luxurious new collection from 1838 Wallcoverings, inspired by the opulence of the Art Deco era. Curved forms and geometric lines meet lavish embellishments such as velvety flocking, glistening beads and contemporary metallics.

Achieve high impact, floor-to-ceiling style with the first murals collection from 1838 Wallcoverings. Bold and fearless prints include ombré watercolor blooms, foliage rendered with illustrative linework, and a rich ikat chevron.  

The theme of the Pavilion collection is modern archive; heritage looks with a contemporary twist. Pavilion pays homage to the styles of the past and reimagines them to suit the interiors of today. Taking inspiration from the elegant style of British stately homes and gardens, old world elements are combined with adventurous colour and innovative techniques.

Willow is the naturally-inspired new collection from 1838 Wallcoverings, celebrating the imperfect authenticity of organic forms. Watery ripples, inky florals & bird life entwined in leaves are rendered in a range of printing methods & innovative effects.
