Nobilis is a family-owned design company that has been offering elegant and high-quality collections for the past 91 years. It was founded in 1928 by Adolphe Halard on Bonaparte Street, Paris, close to the Beaux-Arts school, as a fabric store. Mr. Halard collaborated with famous artists and designers to create his fabrics. One of his closest collaborators was Suzanne Fontan, who infused her style and love of the finest materials in all the company’s creations. Mrs. Fontan worked as a window dresser in the prestigious department store Galeries Lafayette and was responsible for creating the delicate floral fabrics in pastel tones. Her creations were named individually with names such as “Allons voir si la rose”, “Bouquet à deux sous”, “Demoiselle, “Les fées” “Mélisande”, Mignonne, Voici l’avril”, “Pécher mignon”, Pucelle”, and “Sousou”. At Inside Stores, we carry the complete collection of Nobilis fabric, wallpaper and furniture.  Please contact us for pricing or product information. Request a quote.

The brand Nobilis started producing wallpapers in 1952, featuring at the same time a collection of fabrics that coordinated perfectly with the wallpaper collection. The success of this innovation was such that the company started exporting its products through the interior decorators' community, without the need for wholesalers and distributors. Nobilis collections were first exported to the United States, then to Belgium, Great Britain, and Switzerland. It was almost 30 years later that the company opened subsidiaries in other European countries, as well as in the Middle East and the United States.

From fabrics and wallpapers, Nobilis expanded its creativity to a global decoration concept. It started offering a furniture collection thanks to the collaboration with renowned designers such as Christian Liaigre, Eric Schmitt, and Jean-Michel Wilmotte. In 1994 the brand launched two porcelain diner services with the company Apilco-Yves Deshoulieres, famous for Porcelaine de Limoge. Nobilis expansion continued in 2014 by presenting a wide range of carpets and rugs, utilizing the most diverse weaving techniques, such as knotted, tufted, and woven. Its design studio offers now a customization service by adapting available colors and dimensions to fit any decorative project.
